SOME OTHER TYPES OF MARBLE AND STONE FLOORING THAT YOU CAN CHOOSE FROM:

Limestone:
Limestone is a sedimentary rock that consists of mostly organic material, such as the skeletons and shells of marine creatures. Over millions of years, it solidifies into solid rock.
Travertine:
Travertine is formed by geysers when the extremely hot underground water dissolves the underlying limestone and carries it upwards with the geyser water. When the water falls to the ground, it re-hardens into stone. The new stone is full of gas bubbles, giving Travertine its characteristic appearance. As travertine is made from water, it is great in a wet environment. However, any holes need to be filled. You should care for it in the same as any other natural stone.
Slate floor tiles:
Rustic, grey-black slate wall and floor tiles are an affordable metamorphic stone composed of silt ore, shale, and volcanic ash, compressed over millions of years. These tiles have durable properties and characteristic colours which give a tactile surface whilst still being extremely hard-wearing. Glossy finishes must be polished regularly, and tumbled or honed slate must be sealed regularly.
Natural stone for your architectural projects
Natural stone is widely used in construction, external design, indoor wall covering and even to create decorative objects. Marble, onyx and granite products are ecological, resistant to low temperatures and long lasting. These original materials create a unique, luxury atmosphere at home, at the work place or in recreational areas.

How to use Limestone in your next home project:

We love writing about stones especially the ones about which people have little or no knowledge about. One of the most misunderstood natural stones, in our view, is Limestone. For the most part, they don’t know what to do with this gorgeous looking, elegant and classy stone and how they can use it in their home decoration project. In fact, there’s a very common myth about Limestone that it can’t be used as worktops because of its porous nature. It may not be as strong as Marble and Granite, but that doesn’t mean that you can’t make good use of this gorgeous variety of natural stones. Is it?
In fact, you’d be surprised to know that Limestone has been used to help construct some of the most well-known buildings in the world.

What is Limestone?
By definition, Limestone is a sedimentary rock composed of Calcium Carbonate, formed by the accumulation of shell, coral, mud, algae, and organic marine debris or by direct crystallization from water. It usually forms in warm, clear, shallow marine waters. Limestone is found in many locations all over the world which includes the Caribbean Sea, Islands around the Pacific Ocean, Indian Ocean and the Gulf of Mexico.
Tiles made from limestone are becoming increasingly popular in the Western countries because of its earthy colors. Even though these are lighter and softer than marbles and granite, it was used in construction in Turkey in ancient times in their traditional architectural masterpieces. So, if you just take little care of the tiles, they can go with a long way.

Limestone Tiles in House Flooring

BhandariMarbleGroup
The Indian stone industry has evolved into the production and manufacturing of blocks, flooring slabs, structural slabs, monuments, tomb stones, sculptures, cobbles, pebbles and landscape garden stones.
India’s history, dating back to 3200 BC has been influenced considerably by the disposition, development and use of stones and other construction materials. Dimension stones have also left deep imprints on the architectural heritage of the country. Innumerable temples, forts and palaces of Ancient Indian Civilization have been carved out of locally available stones. The Taj Mahal at Agra was constructed from Indian marble. Some of the rock-cut structures include Khajuraho Temple, Elephanta Caves, and Konark Temple. Besides, all major archeological excavations have revealed exquisitely carved statuettes and carvings in stone. Ancient Buddhist monuments like the Sanchi Stupa of 3rd century BC have also been carved out of stone.
This tradition of Stone Architecture has continued to the present era, with most of the important modern buildings in India like the Presidential House, Parliament House, and Supreme Court made from high quality sandstone of Rajasthan. The Baha’i House of Worship of New Delhi stands testimony to the relevance of marble in modern Indian architecture.
Stones are still the mainstays of civil construction in India, with stones being used extensively in public buildings, hotels, and temples. It is increasingly being used in homes, with the use of stones now penetrating amongst the growing middle class of India.
The success of commercial stone industry solely depends upon defects in rock stone. Natural defects in ornamental commercial rock deposits adversely affect the quality of rock deposit. Detection of natural defects in decorative and dimensional stone industry play vital role in the quality assessment.
